Donkeys

Noah, donkeyNoah  is a Mediterranean  donkey, and a long-time resident of Black Pine.  It was several years ago that the sanctuary first began giving local school children and their teachers tours of the park.  A local nursery school loved the field animals and were responsible for adding Noah to the menagerie.

If you look at Noah from a birds' eye view, you'll see a vivid cross in his coat.  Just as'Andy' & 'Marie' history tells us that Jesus bore a cross on this back, so does this donkey, and for that reason the breed is very cherished by people around the world.

At right are Andy and Marie, miniature donkeys.  They are rescued pets.  These lovable hoofed animals are sometimes used as working animals, too.  Andy and Marie were previously someone's farm pets.  Often these kinds of animals outlive the interests of children, or become displaced when people move and have nowhere to keep them.

The donkeys share pasture with Rheas, emus, camels, llamas, goats, and other animals.
