GET CLOSER!

Unlike many other animal sanctuaries, Black Pine Animal Park is open to the public.  We welcome thousands of visitors each year, including individuals, families, school field trips, scouts, church and youth groups, and company picnics.  The proceeds from gate admissions and gift shop purchases provide the majority of operating funds each year required to provide care to the animals.

Black Pine does not seek out animals for the enjoyment of our visitors.  We do not offer playgrounds,Guest pavilion million-dollar exhibits, extensive concessions, or acres of gardens.  Rather, our focus is on providing excellent care to animals we have rescued from private owners or taken in after a life of performing.  Our mission is to educate the public about why animals need refuge, which we accomplish by allowing you to visit some who found such refuge.  We do not allow running, taunting, teasing, or other such behavior so that the animals are sure to be comfortable, content, and curious.

Guests enjoy meeting MinnieWhen you visit our animal residents, representing over 45 exotic and endangered species, you will witness animal behaviors not seen in most zoos as the animals react to, and interact with, our staff.  You will see alert, healthy, and genuinely interested animals.  You will enjoy eye contact and vocalizations as you observe them, take photographs, and even call them by name!

The park relocated to an all new 18-acre site in December 2006.  Public tours of the new facility resumed on May 26, 2007, though construction will continue indefinitely.  Black Pine's new facility offers:

  • Free Parking (and a larger parking area!)

  • Wheelchair accessible grounds and buildings

  • First Aid

  • Free picnic shelter area & picnic tables

  • Free use of wagons and strollers (limited availability)

To make the most of your visit, please consider the following options and our recommendations...

During the regular summer season, admission purchases for Black Pine will enable you to come and go from the park all day (hours vary).  Each admission entitles youIntroduction to sulcata tortoise to a self-guided tour.  Self-guided tours are recommended for anyone visiting with children age eight or younger.

Our optional staff-guided tours, at no additional charge, are offered during the summer season when the park is open daily, and by appointment during the off-season.  These optional tours are recommended for first-time visitors, and also for those age nine or older (though younger children are welcome, too, when appropriately supervised by an adult).

If you're looking for the best value, consider a Park Pal Membership, and make the most of your contributing dollars!  Our memberships pay for themselves in as little as two visits per year!

Black Pine also hosts school field trips and other groups!  We will alter our tours to fit your group's needs.

We hope you enjoy your visit! Don't miss our Upcoming Events!
